Using Your Computer To Learn Piano

Up until only a few years ago the only way to learn piano was to go to a piano teacher for lessons. These would probably be hour long sessions once a week and they would probably be at the teachers own home or piano studio. You can now download whole piano courses off the internet which will teach you how to play the piano from a complete beginner level and will lead you right up to a high intermediate level all on your own without having to see a regular professional piano teacher. There is a video review of the absolute best piano course available here:  Rocket Piano Review

The typical home study course will contain audio files and video clips that will show you step-by-step how to play the piano or the keyboards right from the start. They normally come with a book or manual which can be viewed on your computer containing all of the lessons and exercises with references to the video and audio files.

This process of being taught has a lot of advantages over ordinary piano classes, for example, you do not need to turn up for your lesson without fail every week, you can take your lessons whenever you like..In addition you are not tethered to a particular lesson. If you end up ready to progress onto the next lesson then you are free to do so, and quite the opposite, if you are experiencing difficulty then there is no hurry to go onto more advanced lessons until you are truly ready to move forward.

If you don’t have an ipad then you will most certainly find it somewhat tricky to position your screen so you can read the music and play the keyboards at the same time. For this reason I find it more helpful to print off the lesson I am going to be practicing on and use this version on the piano just as I would a piano book or sheet music.

There is a software metronome included with many of the recommended courses as featured on the learn piano blog below. This will provide you with that all familiar clicking for you to play along with so as to learn how to keep in time. For up to date and detailed video reviews on the best home study piano courses see the How to learn piano website.

An additional good reason to use your computer when practicing is that you might record yourself. You will be likely shocked when you play back what you considered was a decent performance of your exercises or set pieces but this is a good thing because it enables you to put into perspective how far you have come and how far you have to go to learn piano and become a skilled player.

It can also be very useful for you to play some additional pieces that are not a part of the home study courses. This will expand your capabilities and will give you the chance to select some pieces that you like and will enjoy learning. On the learn piano blog below there are a list of some internet sites that offer free piano sheet music for newbies. You might also check out the following site for additional information on learning piano in your own home:

In general the typical home study program is completely sufficient for anyone to start off learning the piano and to press on to a fairly hight intermediate level of playing with out the need to attend regular piano lessons.
