When it comes to piano lessons for children, there are some very crucial things that you must understand. In order to ensure that you are utilizing your child’s performance, please first understand that this is indeed “a child” that is learning a very difficult art. For most children learning how to play the piano is not easy especially if they are extremely young, therefore you should  be a little more patient to their needs in their journey to learn.

Realize that most children can only sit in one place for so long. Let your child practice between 20 to 30 minutes at a time, to ensure that there attention span stays focused. Forcing your child to practice too long will feel like torture to them, and they will lose the interest of learning how to play eventually.

When your child is first starting out on learning the piano, try to make it a fun experience for them. The first impression is a lasting one. Allow your child to pick out of a handful of songs that may interest them. Once they find one that they can enjoy, they will be more inclined to want to learn instead of feeling forced. Allow your child to clap along and or march with the rhythm of the music. Children learn how to keep beat very well this way. If they have a question for you or if they want to try a twist on what they are learning, indeed let them. By doing this, you are letting the student awaken their creative mind when it comes to music, but just remember to keep them focused as well.

Remember to always be patient with a child student and allow them to be an active thinking in each session. Doing so will allow him or her to learn piano faster an easier in the long term.
