Once you have selected your method for learning the piano, it is important to begin with a positive attitude.  As with any education, it takes time to learn the art so be patient and stay focused on your ultimate goal.  After all, you had to learn to crawl before you could walk, so apply this mentality to any skill that requires patience and determination.  Learning the piano is one of the most amazing accomplishments for any musician.  The powerful sound of music as it is echoed with the stroke of a key is like nothing else.

Learning the piano will take a series of lessons, but most learners can play something at the end of their first session.  It may be a small portion of a recognizable arrangement, but it will give the student a feeling of accomplishment.  Results are often instant, but the actual knowledge of the instrument takes time.  This doesn’t mean, however, that learning the piano is expensive.  Just because it does require hours of time and dedication, don’t be discouraged.  Piano lessons are often very reasonable and vary from one instructor to another.
