Online Learn to Play Piano lessons

Learn to Play the Piano Online at home – now

Can’t swing formal lessons? Get started now with an affordable self-study course at home.

Why should you consider any lessons? Do you want to know:

  • How to play?
  • How to play better sooner?
  • How to play more musically?
  • How to sound better?
  • How to experience less frustration?
  • And, of course, how to have more fun?
  • Oh, by the way, what’s all this squiggly stuff in the piano book?

Let’s assume that at this time, formal lessons are not possible for you. So, now what? Many options are available online. But, how to  wade through all these choices? That’s why I’m here – to help you figure this out.

Fortunately online instruction now comes in many formats.
Some are computer based, some have hardcopy books, and some have everything in video. Some are on DVD, and others have play along audio CDs. Good, but confusing – for sure. Help is here – sorting it all out and making a choice that fits your needs is what this site is for.

1. My suggestion is to first think about what you have at home. Meaning – where is the PC, the piano, DVD and CD players, speed of internet connection, size of your PC hard drive, the speed and quality of your PC printer, the cost of ink and how long it lasts (or not,) the amount of time you have available – things like that.

2. Now think about how you want to use this course. Meaning – use it just at home, or go somewhere to use another piano, go to a friend’s house to share something – things like that.

3. Now you should have a framework of facts and desires to use while reading about any specific course of piano lessons. This helps you stay focused on getting what you really want and can use. Don’t get distracted by all the “gee whiz stuff” – you know what I mean.

4. Now go to my review and comparison pages. Pay extra attention to the testimonials from real people. How can you tell if their real?  Really good question – a major clue is whether or not you can contact that person – for example, the Piano For All testimonials provide names and email addresses on request.  Pretty hard to fake that.

5. From most any page here, you can get right on to the course creator’s official home page.  These are the sales pages. This is where the “gee whiz stuff” lives. Do watch all the video demos and stuff.   Sometimes there are special sales – you never know.

6. My personal experience says to try to balance what you “think” with what your “gut feeling” is.  When is doubt, your gut feeling is usually right.

7. The big thing is to get started. Playing the piano in fun and rewarding in many ways. Go for it. You can always add formal lessons at any time.

Future posts will include more of my experiences, and you are invited to share yours by adding comments. Your comments are welcome (they will be moderated, so they might not appear immediately.) Anyone who has purchased any piano course anywhere is invited to share your thoughts here.

What do mean – get started? I like to analyze things to death. That way I don’t have to get started – I might go in the wrong direction, you know.

I just put in a bunch of comments – but nothing shows – what gives? Where’s my stuff? Are you really going to answer all of them – I hope so, don’t like to waste my time… Jo

Hello Jo, The blog software holds new comments in a special place and sends me an email telling me that I have a new comment to approve (or not.) It’s called holding comments for moderation (by a moderator – that’s me.) Sometimes I can’t check my email daily – you know – trips, sickness, etc. I will approve all comments that add to the discussion. Spam and garbage and nasty stuff will go to the dumper.
Yes, I am really going to answer all of them. So – keep them coming. This is not a waste of time.
    Phil

Jo, I used to ‘analyze things to death’ too. Then I finally realized that I wasn’t going anywhere. It turns out (for me anyway) that the magic is in getting started, even with a ‘fuzzy’ plan. The plan will take shape and be modified many times as you proceed. There is no one magic perfect plan that fits everyone. Phil

OK, I’ll go think this over and jump in. Thanks for the feedback.
